The South and Midwest are expected to outpace the nation this year in home values, according to a new report from Clear Capital.

The real-estate information service forecasts home prices to rise 2.4 percent in 2017, well below the 5.8 percent posted in 2016. Home values in the West, which led the nation for the past few years, will moderate and some markets will see a decline, according to the forecast.

Instead, the South is predicted to lead the nation with 3.5 percent appreciation, followed by the Midwest, with 3.4 percent, West, 1.1 percent, and Northeast, .1 percent.
